On March 10, Saigon Business School (SBS) attended the “Partnership Reception” event hosted by the University of Northampton at the residence of Mr. Iain Frew, British Ambassador to Vietnam, in Hanoi.
SBS was represented at the event by Mr. Hoàng Văn Cương, Executive Vice President of American Polytechnic College and Managing Director of Saigon Business School, and Mr. Nguyễn Quang Anh Chương, Academic Director of Quest International University Programs. SBS’s participation not only reaffirmed its role within the University of Northampton’s global education partnership network but also opened up further opportunities for academic collaboration and student exchange. These include expanding academic networks, enhancing training pathways, and better preparing students for career development in a globalized context.

Theme: “From Aspiration to Impact”
Speaking at the event, Ms. Becky Bradshaw, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Northampton, highlighted this year’s theme, “From Aspiration to Impact.” She emphasized that studying abroad is not only about gaining access to an international learning environment, but more importantly, about equipping students with the capabilities to create meaningful and positive impacts in their communities after graduation.

Launch of the IMPACT Scholarship – Worth £12,000
A key highlight of the event was the official announcement of the IMPACT Scholarship, valued at £12,000 – the highest-value scholarship the University of Northampton has ever offered to Vietnamese students. The scholarship aims to recognize and support outstanding individuals who excel not only academically but also demonstrate initiatives or projects that contribute positively to society.
According to Ms. Nguyen Ngoc, Regional Manager for Recruitment and International Partnerships in Indochina, the IMPACT Scholarship represents more than financial support. It reflects the university’s commitment to fostering innovation, encouraging social responsibility, and creating sustainable, positive impact within communities.

Mr. Thomas Zhang, Assistant Director of International Partnerships, further affirmed that with the vision of “Supporting aspiration, creating opportunities, delivering impact,” the University of Northampton will continue to expand its partnerships in Vietnam, while developing more academic initiatives and scholarship opportunities to help Vietnamese students access high-quality UK education.
These strategic directions are not only visionary but are also being realized through students’ academic achievements and transfer journeys. Through their studies and development at Saigon Business School, many students are now well-prepared to pursue international education opportunities, including at the University of Northampton.
From SBS Foundation to an International Transfer Journey
Pham Thi Hoang Anh is one of SBS’s outstanding students, becoming the first representative to successfully transfer to the University of Northampton. She was awarded a 30% scholarship worth £5,100 (approximately VND 180 million), recognizing her academic performance and consistent dedication throughout her studies.

From her early days at SBS, Hoang Anh demonstrated strong academic commitment and actively participated in academic activities and practical projects. In addition to maintaining excellent academic results, she proactively developed her English proficiency and soft skills to adapt confidently to an international environment.
Her persistence, clear direction, and willingness to embrace challenges have gradually brought her closer to her study abroad goals. Her two-year journey at SBS has not only provided her with a solid academic foundation but also nurtured independent thinking and global adaptability, which are essential for her next academic chapter.
