Elevating BTEC HND (UK) Education in Vietnam through the Pearson Internal Verifier and Assessor Programme – CPD 2026

14/04/2026

Taking place from April 8 – 10, 2026 at Saigon Business School (SBS), the Pearson Internal Verifier and Assessor Programme – CPD 2026 delivered a specialised training course aimed at continuously updating and enhancing the capabilities of lecturers and academic staff. As one of the key training initiatives, the programme contributes to ensuring teaching and assessment quality in alignment with the BTEC HND (UK) system.

As the organising institution, SBS affirms its internationally aligned academic environment and its capability in delivering BTEC programmes. The programme also provided a platform for academic professionals in the region to connect, exchange knowledge, enhance their competencies, and gain access to advanced training standards.

The programme welcomed representatives along with international experts and education partners, including:

  • Steve Ingle (Trainer)
  • Janice Phung
  • Megan Cullen
  • Niluh Komang Aimee Sukesna – USG Education
  • Binadari – USG Education
  • Irman F. Saputra – USG Education
  • Jennlyn Bebing – Southville International School
  • Le Thi Minh Tam – iSpace Vietnam
  • Phan Dao Mai Linh – KUV (Keiser University Vietnam)

The training focused on key objectives: helping participants better understand the structure and content of BTEC programmes, develop effective implementation strategies, enhance assignment design and grading skills, and gain a solid understanding of internal quality assurance processes as well as verification requirements.

BTEC, which stands for Business and Technology Education Council, is a vocational qualification system that has been recognised globally for over 35 years. The programme is built on close collaboration between educators and businesses to ensure strong practical relevance and applicability in the workplace. What sets BTEC apart is its combination of academic knowledge and practical experience, enabling learners to both pursue further education and be ready for employment.

In particular, the BTEC Higher Nationals (Level 4/5 HND) are considered a bridge between education and the labour market, focusing on developing professional skills, working mindset, and problem-solving abilities through practical projects. Graduates not only gain a solid academic foundation but also have opportunities for exemptions from certain professional certifications or to engage with international professional organisations.

With the philosophy “Wherever learning flourishes, so do people,” Pearson (UK) continues to reaffirm its commitment to supporting educational institutions in equipping learners with the skills needed to succeed in an ever-changing working environment.
